Kiran Gems Private Limited, the World’s Largest Manufacturer of Diamonds, has cut and polished humongous 5.3 million carats of rough in the past financial year 2013-14. The company has added 11 factories, with top of the line machinery to manage the value addition process for such a huge volume of rough diamonds that it sources from all the major miners like De Beers, Alrosa, Dominion and others.
Kiran Gems currently has 155 specialised factories and the latest technology in factories makes it possible to plan each and every stone under machines. One new factory of 400,000 sqft is under construction and is planned to be in operation by the end of 2016. Dinesh Lakhani, Director, Kiran Gems says, “the growth in the production has been mainly due to increased demands from our existing customers and new customers that we met at various exhibitions.”
The production in the 1 carat plus category and smaller stones has significantly increased to meet the demands for certified diamonds and parcels. However, production of medium size category of diamonds has increased moderately. Kiran Gems group has exported to over 39 countries its diamond and diamond jewellery products in the past financial year.Currently Kiran Gems cuts and polishes approximately 5% of the global rough production.
